New Hampshire Citizen Planner
A free lecture at UNH Manchester
Manchester, NH– UNH Manchester presents a free lecture by Dan Reidy, Community Development & County Office Administrator, called "New Hampshire Citizen Planner". The lecture, on Wednesday, April 8th at 12:00 Noon in the third floor auditorium, will discuss a new program developed to train land use officials, such as zoning and planning board members in how to run effective meetings. The lecture is open to the public and is offered as part of the Brown Bag Lectures Series which is held on Wednesday's at 12:00 Noon.
The New Hampshire Citizen planner is a program designed with funding from UNH's Outreach Scholarship grant program and in partnership with UNH Cooperative Extension, UNH Manchester, the NH Office of Energy and Planning and the Nashua Regional Planning Commission. The program is offered in four sessions and is based on understanding the state RSA's relative to Land Use Boards, and implementation of Rules of Procedure that each land use board is required to have in place. The four sessions are Effective Meeting Management; Public Participation & Involvement Strategies; Conflict Management in Meetings & Forums; and Advanced Facilitation Techniques. Mr. Reidy will provide an overview of the program and also demonstrate how to access the NH RSA's on line, Blackboard, and locate Rules of Procedure implemented by some communities.
Mr. Reidy, in addition to managing the Hillsborough County Office of UNH Cooperative Extension in Goffstown, is assigned to the Community Development program area where he facilitates local and regional civic dialogue and participatory planning programs for communities of place and purpose. He has coordinated more than a dozen Community Profiles and planning charrettes across Hillsborough County, recently chaired the Goffstown Ethics Policy Study Committee, and sits on the Goffstown Economic Development Council and the John Stark Regional Byway Council.
