UNH Manchester Hosts Post 9/11 GI Bill Information Session
Manchester, NH– Veterans and their families are invited to attend an information session on Thursday, May 7 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM to learn about educational benefits available with the “New” GI Bill. The program is hosted by UNH Manchester and will be held at the UNH Manchester Auditorium, 400 Commercial Street, Manchester. The program is free and open to the public.
The session includes a presentation by Lonn Sattler, the University of New Hampshire Veteran’s Coordinator, who will explain the Post 9/11 Bill benefits and the steps veterans can take if they are considering college. Current students will tell their stories of transition from service member to scholar and answer questions from the audience.
The Post 9/11 Veteran’s Assistance Act of 2008 provides educational benefits for veterans who served on active duty after September 10, 2001. Eligibility for this new educational benefit varies depending on each individual’s length of active duty service and cannot exceed the most expensive in-state undergraduate tuition at a public college or university. The “New” GI Bill will cover all or a percentage of the cost of annual tuition and fees, housing, and books and supplies. For more information about the program, please contact Regina McCarthy at 603-641-4142.
