Dr. Susanne Paterson Receives Teaching Excellence Award at UNH Manchester’s 24th Commencement
Manchester, NH – Susanne Paterson, Associate Professor of English, has been named the 2009 Teaching Excellence Award recipient. She will be recognized at the University of New Hampshire at Manchester’s 24th annual commencement proceedings on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Center of NH in Manchester. Dr. Paterson was selected based on student evaluations and recommendations from UNH Manchester students, faculty and staff.
The faculty excellence award recognizes a residential faculty member who is an inspiring, challenging and effective teacher whose support and respect for students is evident both in and out of the classroom. Susanne Paterson is a teacher who is dedicated to her subject and to the success of her students. The nature and breadth of students’ positive comments set her apart in a field of talented colleagues. As a respected teacher and colleague, Dr. Paterson is praised for her enthusiasm, accessibility, and effective, organized teaching style. Many students enter her Shakespeare, Survey of British Literature, Early Drama, or English grammar courses intimidated by the challenging material. Students leave confident, empowered, with a deeper understanding of the course material, skilled in the craft of writing, and eager to register for the next course she will teach. Dr. Paterson also received the 2001 Teaching Excellence Award.
Susanne Paterson joins previous Teaching Excellence Award winners Stephen Pugh, Anthony “Skip” Tenczar, John Sparrow, Jack McCarthy, Barbara Jago, Gary Goldstein, Roberta Kieronski, Jay Niesse, Susan Walsh, Robert Macieski, Jeff Klenotic, Deborah Brown, Gail Fensom, John Cerullo, Cindy Gannett, Lew Knight, Terry Savage, and Karla Vogel whose commitment to teaching excellence earns the respect from UNH Manchester students and colleagues alike.
