Who Studies at UNH Manchester?

Each year more than 1600 students attend classes at UNH Manchester. Our college welcomes undergraduate and graduate students with diverse backgrounds and interests. The student population is composed of a unique mix of traditional-age college students and older adults. Our classes reflect the region's rich cultural, economic, and ethnic diversity including a number of international students.

The majority of our students are traditional-age college students, 18 to 24 years old, who have recently graduated from high school or were home schooled. We also welcome non-traditional adult students returning to the classroom after time dedicated to work, raising a family, the military or other responsibilities. Our college is home to non-degree students taking courses for continuing education.

In today's world, not everyone wants a residential college experience. Our college is an engaged community partner. Our faculty and staff work collaboratively to provide students with a convenient, affordable university education with all the benefits of a commuter college experience. For students with home and work responsibilities, UNH Manchester makes college possible. Students have the flexibility and academic support services and resources necessary to achieve their goals. They find a place to grow, a place to explore, and a place to enrich their lives.

Our urban location in the heart of Manchester's historic mill yard supports a unique learning environment. The Merrimack Valley region of New Hampshire serves as an extension of our campus, a learning laboratory for academics and student life. Our students have easy access to study abroad opportunities and interesting research projects and internships in business, education, government, health care and a range of non-profit and community organizations. Student clubs and organizations are active on campus and student participation is encouraged. Recreational and co-curricular activities in Boston, Mass. the White Mountains and the New Hampshire seacoast are within an hours' drive from our campus.
